Alexis Davison of Scholars in Collars: 30-31 March 2019

Bellarine Dog Activities Group is excited to announce that we will again be hosting Alexis Davison of Scholars in Collars to deliver dog training workshops in the Geelong region, over the weekend of 30 and 31 March 2019.

Alexis will deliver two different workshops, targeted to addressing some of the big challenges that many of us face when training our dogs:

Walk this Way
Teach your dog to walk on a loose lead, 3hrs:

 

Calm. Controlled. Centered.
Teach your excitable dog some self-control, 3hrs:

 

Flyers containing further information are attached below for each workshop.
Dog numbers are limited, so apply early if you are interested.
Both workshops have positions for handlers with dogs, and for observers.

Alexis Davison – Presenter Profile

Alexis Davison is a nationally accredited Dog Behavioural Trainer and holds a Certificate IV in Dog Behavioural Training. She is an internationally Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP). Additionally, she holds a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is a Pet Tech Instructor (Pet CPR and First Aid).

Alexis is a faculty member of the Karen Pryor Academy and teaches the Dog Trainer Professional Program in Australia & New Zealand. She also teaches dog*biz’s Dog Walking Academy in Australia and is a business consultant for dog*biz. Alexis is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) in the USA, and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) in Australia, and a member of the Pet Professional Guild & Delta Institute.

She was awarded APDT Australia’s Trainer of the Year in 2014. Alexis is a regular conference speaker. Recent engagements have included the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (USA), APDT Australia, Pet Professional Guild and Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia.

Alexis established her dog training business, Scholars in Collars, in 2002. She teaches group classes in the Adelaide Hills. These include her innovative Puppy Playgroup and Puppy Promenade; a series of Life Skills classes; as well as single topic workshops and short courses including Meeting Manners; Walk This Way; Really Reliable Recall; Calm. Controlled. Centred; Un-Chase!® & Un-Chase® Snakes! Alexis also conducts in home training and behavioural consultations throughout the Hills and metropolitan Adelaide.

Alexis currently shares her home with her partner, Ross, three Australian Shepherds, a Central Bearded Dragon, and a number of chickens.

CANINE BEHAVIOUR, COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING

Nina Bondarenko has been training and working with dogs and many other species for over 30 years. She is a Behavioural Consultant and Lecturer as well as being the author & illustrator of “Hearts, Minds and Paws” and co-author of “Partners for Life”. Nina delivers speaking and training engagements in many countries and is sought after for her knowledge and skills in the behaviour and training of assistance and detection dogs.

SATURDAY 16th March 2019:
SMARTer Seminar
(See, Mark & Reward Training)
Saturday is a seminar format – no dogs. 50 places available. Cost $50 per person.

SUNDAY 17th March 2019:
Practical one on one sessions with handlers and dogs on training and communication challenges.

A limit of 15 dogs;  all day observer positions also available – 35 places. Cost $50 per observer, or $100 with a dog.
Prospective handlers for this workshop will need to submit an application form, which provides a profile of their dog with their case history and a description of the training or behavioural challenges they are encountering. Nina will select dogs appropriate for the Workshop from the profiles and applicants will be advised. Nina Bondarenko workshop registration.

Bellarine Dog Activities Group is very pleased to host Alexis Davison of ‘Scholars in Collars’ to deliver her positive reinforcement Un-chase workshop in the Geelong region.

These one day workshops are suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities with a current vaccination. However, due to the course format, dogs must be people and dog friendly.

To ensure individual attention, each workshop is limited to 8 dogs, and observer positions (without dogs) are also available. BDAG members will be given first option to enroll.
Costs are $110 for positions with dogs and $25 for observers per day.
